Open House

MORRILTON — Sykes Enterprises, in partnership with the Morrilton Area Chamber of Commerce, will hold a community open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its Morrilton location, 1535 E. Harding St. Employees will give tours of the facility to the public and answer questions about their company and its operations. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided.

Percussion Ensemble

Exhibition Reception

CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas’ fall 2012 Juried Senior Exhibition will be on view Nov. 15 through Dec. 7 in the Baum Gallery at the university’s McCastlain Hall. An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 15. The exhibition can be viewed during regular gallery hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday; and also from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Dazzle Daze

CONWAY — The 11th annual Dazzle Daze will open today at the Conway Expo Center with Girls Nite Out from 6-9 p.m. The event will feature jazz by Rodney Block and The Real Music Lovers, a Chicks Who Click photo session and a variety of appetizers by Conway chef Jill McCollum. Dazzle Daze general shopping hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. String Quartet Recital

AARP Driver Safety Class

HEBER SPRINGS — An AARP Driver Safety class will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the Heber Springs campus of Arkansas State University in the Administration/Student Services Building’s McCoy Room. Individuals 55 and older who complete the course will qualify for a three-year discount on their automobile-insurance premiums in Arkansas. The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers. Quilts of Valor Workshop

GREENBRIER — The North Faulkner County Extension Homemakers Council will hold workshops for the Quilts of Valor project from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 16 and on Dec. 21 and Jan. 18, in the Fellowship Hall of Lifesong Baptist Church, 56 S. Broadview in Greenbrier, across from Fred’s department store. All are welcome, and sewing is not required. Materials for the first quilt will be at the workshop. Participants are asked to bring irons and boards, sewing notions and other supplies, and sewers need to bring a sewing machine. There will be a potluck lunch at each workshop. Centennial Celebration

DARDANELLE — First Presbyterian Church will hold its Big Centennial Celebration on Saturday and Sunday. The two-day event will include choirs, bagpipe music, a reception with typical foods from 100 years ago and a time-capsule ceremony. Van Buren County Retired Teachers Meeting

CLINTON — The Van Buren County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. at Western Sizzlin in Clinton. Debra Lance, director of Court Appointed Special Advocates, will be one of the guest speakers. She will address the need for CASA volunteers, who serve as a voice in court for abused and neglected children in foster care. Peggy Hardy, county coordinator for Children of Arkansas Loved for a Lifetime (CALL) will discuss her group’s mission to provide a future for children in foster care in Van Buren County. Santa to a Senior

CONWAY/RUSSELLVILLE — Be a Santa to a Senior, a campaign to deliver gifts and provide companionship to local needy seniors, is being held again this holiday season. To help, pick up ornaments with the first names of seniors and their gift requests through Dec. 10 from Christmas trees at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville and Conway Regional Medical Center. Buy items on the list and return them unwrapped, with the ornaments attached, to the hospital. Community gift-wrapping events will be held from 4-6 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Pope County Senior Center and at 3 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Conway Senior Wellness and Activity Center. Mountain Rendezvous

PETIT JEAN MOUNTAIN — The 15th annual Mountain Rendezvous will be held Nov. 23-25 at Petit Jean State Park. The events will offer attendees a chance to experience primitive camping; learn some of the survival skills of Arkansas pioneers; and watch demonstrations of activities such as muzzleloading and tomahawk throwing. The rendezvous is co-sponsored by the Early Arkansaw Re-enactors Association. Holiday Lighting

MORRILTON — The annual lighting of the Conway County Courthouse, the train depot and City Hall in Morrilton is slated for sundown Nov. 26. In conjunction with the displays, which will continue through Dec. 31, the annual Morrilton Christmas Parade will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 6 in downtown Morrilton, followed by the Night of Luminaries at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton.

Audubon Society Meeting

CLINTON — The Little Red River Audubon Society will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 27 at Western Sizzlin Restaurant in Clinton. Abigail Darrah will present “Flock-Following Behavior of the Wedge-Billed Woodcreeper in Amazonian Ecuador.” Before the meeting, a Dutch-treat dinner will be held at 5 p.m. Door prizes will be available. Winter Wonderland

RUSSELLVILLE — The Winter Wonderland Drive Through Light Display will be open Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, Dec. 7 and 8, Dec. 14 and 15, and Dec. 19-24. Pictures with Santa Claus will be available to area youths on Dec. 1, 8, 15 and 19-24. There will be a live Nativity scene. On Dec. 19-24, an outdoor ice -skating rink will be added. Sugarplum Festival

LESLIE — The fourth annual Sugarplum Festival will be held from 2-4 p.m. Dec. 1 in and around the city park in Leslie. The event will include Santa Claus, vendors, hayrides, clogging and hot apple cider.

CONWAY — Jonathan Trawick will perform at 7 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Faulkner County Library.
