Concert Band Performance

HOT SPRINGS — Join the Hot Springs Concert Band at 6 p.m. in Whittington Park for the conclusion of the 2013 Summer Concert Series. The concert will include “The Great Locomotive Chase,” “Kitty Hawk 1903,” “Beyond the Higher Skies” and other transportation-related selections. This event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. In the event of extreme heat or rain, the concert may be moved to the gymnasium at National Park Community College. Notice of a change in venue will be posted at www.hotspringsband.org after 4 p.m. the day of the concert.

Monday With the Master Gardeners

Haskell Historical Society Meeting

Royal Players Auditions

BENTON — The Royal Players will hold auditions at 7 p.m. Aug. 23-24 and Aug. 26 at the Royal Theatre for a production of Frankenstein. The production is set for Oct. 17-20 and 24-27. Horseshoe Tournament

KIRBY — The 25th annual Horshoe Pitching Tournament at Daisy State Park will begin with registration from 9:30-10 a.m. Admission is $5 per person. All ages and skill levels are welcome. September Art Exhibit

HOT SPRINGS — Garvan Woodland Gardens has announced that its September art exhibit will be Brush Strokes, works from an art club of that name headquartered in Hot Springs Village. The exhibit, slated for 9 a.m.-6 p.m. daily during the month of September, will feature 40 of the club’s most talented artists with works that include watercolors, oils, pastels tand mixed media. Some of the paintings depict scenes from Garvan Woodland Gardens. Admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 6-12. Children 5 and younger will be admitted free. Three Artists Art Exhibit

HOT SPRINGS — An exhibition of three award-winning artists from Hot Springs Village will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily during August in the Garvan Woodland Gardens’ Magnolia Room. Ageless BikersClub Rides

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Ageless Bikers Club holds bicycle rides at 8 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. There are eight different 20-mile rides on relatively flat, quiet country roads. For more information, visit www.hsvabc.weebly.com.

Summertime Shuttle

HOT SPRINGS — The Mountain Xpress, a free shuttle bus that takes visitors through the downtown historic and arts district, will run at 30-minute intervals from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays through Sept. 2. The air-conditioned buses have bike racks, and drivers will provide information on areas traveled. Free parking will be available for shuttle riders at the Hot Springs Convention Center parking lot, 134 Convention Blvd.; at Transportation Plaza, 100 Broadway Terrace; and at the Exchange Street Parking Plaza on Central Avenue. Health Walks in the Gardens

HOT SPRINGS — Guided health walks at Garvan Woodland Gardens take place twice a week: a three-mile walk at 9 a.m. Mondays, and a one-mile walk at 9 a.m. Tuesdays. Walkers meet at the Welcome Center. Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy walking shoes. No reservations are needed. The guided walks are free to members, and nonmembers pay regular gardens admission.

Music Therapy Program

BENTON/BRYANT — The Saline County Library will present a music-therapy and relaxation program and performance featuring local musician Linda Brockinton and Dr. Terry Harville of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children’s Hospital at 6 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library in Benton and at 6 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Mabel Boswell Memorial Library in Bryant. Celebrity Waiter Event

BRYANT — Relay for Life of Saline County will host its fourth annual Celebrity Waiter fundraiser from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 27 at Larry’s Pizza in Bryant. Donations and tips given to waiters throughout the evening will benefit the 2013 Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society’s largest annual fundraiser. Table sponsors are also being sought for $25 each and can be purchased by businesses or individuals. HOT SPRINGS — The Southwest Central Regional Solid Waste Management District will sponsor its first E-Waste Recycling Event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 30 and 31 at the Hot Springs Convention Center, Church Street Entrance, Halls A-D. End of Summer Blowout

HOT SPRINGS — Lake Catherine State Park is the location for the End of Summer Blowout, a free event slated for Aug. 30-Sept. 2 that will feature lake and kayak tours, hikes, crafts and educational programs as park staff members cease their daily interpretive programming. The nature cabin will close for the year, with its animal inhabitants being the subjects of a release party. HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Ouachita Speaker Series fall season will begin at 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Ouachita Activities Building of the Ponce de Leon Center in Hot Springs Village. Kiwanis Golf Tournament

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Kiwanis Club of Hot Springs Village will sponsor the Million-Dollar Shot Golf Tournament, starting at 8 a.m. Sept. 11 at the Magellan Golf Course. The tournament is a traditional four-ball format, with an entry fee of $300 per team, or $75 per player. When all score cards are in at the end of play, one of the 36 teams will be chosen by random drawing to shoot for the million-dollar prize. The golfer taking the shot will be chosen by his or her teammates. In addition to one team having a chance at the million-dollar jackpot ($250,000 per player), the entry fee also covers green fees, a cart, practice balls and a catered lunch. Night to Be Great

BENTON — The Boys & Girls Club of Saline County will host the Night to Be Great fundraiser at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Benton Event Center. Justin Moore will provide entertainment, and there will be a silent auction and dinner. Tickets are $75 per seat for standard seating or $750 per table. Premium tables are available for $1,000 each.
