Concert Band Performance
HOT SPRINGS — Join the Hot Springs Concert Band at 6 p.m. in Whittington Park for the conclusion of the 2013 Summer Concert Series. The concert will include “The Great Locomotive Chase,” “Kitty Hawk 1903,” “Beyond the Higher Skies” and other transportation-related selections. This event is free and open to the public. HOT SPRINGS — Garvan Woodland Gardens has announced that its September art exhibit will be Brush Strokes, works from an art club of that name headquartered in Hot Springs Village. The exhibit, slated for 9 a.m.-6 p.m. daily during the month of September, will feature 40 of the club’s most talented artists with works that include watercolors, oils, pastels tand mixed media. Summertime Shuttle
HOT SPRINGS — The Mountain Xpress, a free shuttle bus that takes visitors through the downtown historic and arts district, will run at 30-minute intervals from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays through Sept. 2. The air-conditioned buses have bike racks, and drivers will provide information on areas traveled. Free parking will be available for shuttle riders at the Hot Springs Convention Center parking lot, 134 Convention Blvd.; at Transportation Plaza, 100 Broadway Terrace; and at the Exchange Street Parking Plaza on Central Avenue. Health Walks in the Gardens
HOT SPRINGS — Guided health walks at Garvan Woodland Gardens take place twice a week: a three-mile walk at 9 a.m. Mondays, and a one-mile walk at 9 a.m. Tuesdays. Walkers meet at the Welcome Center. Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy walking shoes. No reservations are needed. The guided walks are free to members, and nonmembers pay regular gardens admission.

Kiwanis Golf Tournament
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Kiwanis Club of Hot Springs Village will sponsor the Million-Dollar Shot Golf Tournament, starting at 8 a.m. Sept. 11 at the Magellan Golf Course. The tournament is a traditional four-ball format, with an entry fee of $300 per team, or $75 per player. When all score cards are in at the end of play, one of the 36 teams will be chosen by random drawing to shoot for the million-dollar prize. The golfer taking the shot will be chosen by his or her teammates. In addition to one team having a chance at the million-dollar jackpot ($250,000 per player), the entry fee also covers green fees, a cart, practice balls and a catered lunch.
