TEAS V Test Dates

SALEM — The Fulton County Democratic Central Committee has announced that the filing period for the 2014 elections will be from noon Monday through noon March 3. SEARCY — The White County Republican Committee announced that filing for county and township offices will begin at noon Monday and end at noon March 3. Candidates need to file at 719 W. Choral Society Spring Concert

The North Central Arkansas District Fair offers the Billy Ray Nix Memorial Scholarship and the NCA District Fair scholarship to graduating seniors in the seven-county district fair area. SEARCY — The Searcy Junior Auxiliary will award two scholarships, each in the amount of $1,500. The Mary Beth Chapman/Marilyn Club Scholarship and the Dottie Corder Scholarship will be awarded to one female and one male Searcy High School applicant. Applications are due March 14. The scholarship selection committee will consider the following criteria: need, academic achievement, involvement in school activities, community-service activities and an applicant interview. Scholarship and Youth Tour
JACKSONVILLE — First Electric Cooperative is accepting applications for its scholarship program and the 2014 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. High school seniors whose parents or guardians are First Electric members may apply for one of five $2,000 scholarships that the cooperative awards each year. To be eligible for the scholarships, which are funded through Operation Round-Up, applicants must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average through their senior year of high school and be a full-time student at an accredited institute of higher learning in Arkansas. High school juniors whose parents or guardians are First Electric members may apply for the Youth Tour, an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., June 14-19. Bootlegger Daze Festival
CALICO ROCK — The Calico Rock Museum will hold its second annual Bootlegger Daze Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 8 on Main Street (Arkansas 5 at the White River Bridge). The festival will include antique cars, revenuers arresting bootleggers on Main Street, food and craft vendors, and a working moonshine still. Bryan Hayes and the Retrievers will provide music all day. Billy Joe Shaver Concert
CALICO ROCK — Billy Joe Shaver, the original “Honky Tonk Hero,” will perform during Bootlegger Daze weekend at 7 p.m. March 8 in the Calico Rock School Auditorium, 301 College St. Shaver has invited songwriting legend and Ozarks native Billy Don Burns to join him for the concert. MOUNTAIN VIEW — The Ozarka College Foundation will host its second annual Ladies’ Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 15 at Ozarka College-Mountain View, 1800 College Drive, in the Ozark Heritage Bank Student Commons Area. The Ozark Folk Center will provide a catered lunch, and the Ozarka College Culinary Arts Department will prepare its famous cheesecakes for attendees. Cleanup and Hazardous Waste Round-Up
CABOT — Cabot Cleanup and Hazardous Waste Round-Up 2014 will be held from 9 a.m. to noon March 22. This citywide cleanup is for civic and service organizations, church and youth groups, school groups and clubs, Scout groups, individuals, families, neighborhoods and businesses. Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at Cabot Junior High-South on Panther Trail and check in at the registration canopies, then will be assigned routes. Orange safety vests and garbage bags will be provided. Participants are asked to bring work gloves. At noon, volunteers will meet back at the Panther Trail parking lot for free food and drinks. CALICO ROCK — The Calico Rock Museum Foundation will hold the official dedication of the Calico Rock Museum and Visitor Center on April 12 . The events will include the dedication of the main facility at 11 a.m. in the museum’s main gallery, the dedication of the Gwen Murphy Art Gallery at 11:30 a.m., a reception at noon in the art gallery and the dedication of the R.C. Matthews Library at 12:30 p.m. All of the events will be held indoors and are open to the public.
