Searcy Summer Dinner Theatre

SEARCY —Part of the Searcy Summer Dinner Theatre’s 32nd season, themed Red, White and Blue(berry Muffins), Faith County is set in the countryside of the South. BATESVILLE — The Batesville Area Arts Council will host its annual Summer Celebration fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 424 E. Surf the Bay

FAIRFIELD BAY — The Surf the Bay watersport festival will be held June 13 and 14 at the Fairfield Bay Marina. Blend Tribute to Statler Brothers

Free Family Movie Night

SEARCY — Southern Bank and Main Street Searcy will present Disney’s animated film Frozen at dusk in Spring Park. Free admission into Spring Park will begin at 7:30, and the sing-along movie version of Frozen will begin at around 8. Each moviegoer will receive one bag of popcorn and a drink, compliments of Southern Bank. Candy, Main Street Searcy T-shirts, glow necklaces and bracelets will be available for purchase. All proceeds will benefit Main Street Searcy’s downtown revitalization efforts. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets.

White County GOP Convention

SEARCY — White County Republican Committee members are called for the county convention at 7 p.m. at the Wilbur Mills Court Building, 301 W. Arch St. Delegates to the state convention will be elected. The regular WCRC monthly meeting will follow the convention. Delegates to the District Committee will also be elected. White County Retired Teachers Meeting

SEARCY — The White County Retired Teachers Association will hold its last meeting of the 2013-14 school year at 2 p.m. at the Carmichael Community Center. Small Works on Paper Exhibition

BATESVILLE — The 27th annual Small Works on Paper exhibition, coordinated by the Arkansas Arts Council, will be on display through June 27 at the Batesville Area Arts Council’s Gallery on Main, 226. E. Main St. The exhibition features the work of 39 Arkansas artists and will travel to 10 galleries throughout the state in a year-long touring show. The free exhibition is open to the public. Chronic Pain Meeting

Basic Health Skills Class for CNAs

MELBOURNE — Ozarka College is accepting enrollment for its Basic Health Skills class, catered to certified nursing assistants (CNAs). This nine-week college-credit course is available at Ozarka’s four campuses: Melbourne, Ash Flat, Mammoth Spring and Mountain View. The class meets twice per week, with two clinicals during the term. Students who take the class and at least one other college course are eligible to apply for financial aid and have the opportunity to be admitted into the Certified Nursing Assistant Program. ASU-Newport Summer Hours

NEWPORT — The hours of operation for Arkansas State University-Newport have shifted to a summer schedule. ASU-Newport’s campuses in Newport, Jonesboro and Marked Tree will be open from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday through Aug. 7. With the exception of White River Hall on the Newport campus, all offices and locations of ASUN will be closed Fridays. ASU-Newport will resume normal operating hours Aug. 11. Events that are already scheduled to take place on Fridays during the summer will still be held.

Bookshop’s New Hours

HEBER SPRINGS — The Friends of the Library Book Shop, 2255 Arkansas 25B N., will now be open from 3:30-7 p.m. Mondays. The shop is also open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays. The shop offers a large selection of books at bargain prices. All proceeds from the shop benefit the libraries in Cleburne County, including the new library in Quitman.

Second Time Around Bookstore

SEARCY — The Literacy Council of White County operates the Second Time Around Bookstore at 109 E. Center in downtown Searcy. Proceeds from the sale of donated books support the mission of helping adults in the community improve their literacy and English-language skills. Summer Day Camps

CALICO ROCK — Two free Summer Day Camps for students going into first through sixth grades will be offered at the Calico Rock Museum on Main Street. Life as an Artist will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 19. Students will make tie-dyed shirts, sculpt in clay, make marbles and explore sand art. Discover Life as a Settler will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 11. Students will explore the new Homestead in the Coal House exhibit, churn butter, make homemade ice cream, use a spinning wheel, process wool and weave. AARP Driver Safety Program

HEBER SPRINGS — There will be an AARP Driver Safety Program class from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 20 in the McCoy Room of the Administration/Student Services Building at Arkansas State University-Heber Springs. Beginner’s Tatting Workshop

POWHATAN — Powhatan Historic State Park will hold Lace, Loops and Laughter: Beginner’s Tatting Workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 21. Tatting, a very old form of lace-making, reached its peak during Victorian times. Participants will learn how to make bookmarks, lace collars, doilies and more with a tatting shuttle, as well as learn about the history of tatting, where to find supplies, how to read patterns and other information to advance their tatting skills. Materials and patterns will be provided. Participants will be given a simple project to take home and are asked to bring a sack lunch. The registration fee is $15.
