SEARCY — Southern Bank and Main Street Searcy will present Disney’s animated film Frozen at dusk in Spring Park. Free admission into Spring Park will begin at 7:30, and the sing-along movie version of Frozen will begin at around 8. SEARCY — White County Republican Committee members are called for the county convention at 7 p.m. at the Wilbur Mills Court Building, 301 W. BATESVILLE — The 27th annual Small Works on Paper exhibition, coordinated by the Arkansas Arts Council, will be on display through June 27 at the Batesville Area Arts Council’s Gallery on Main, 226. Basic Health Skills Class for CNAs
MELBOURNE — Ozarka College is accepting enrollment for its Basic Health Skills class, catered to certified nursing assistants (CNAs). This nine-week college-credit course is available at Ozarka’s four campuses: Melbourne, Ash Flat, Mammoth Spring and Mountain View. The class meets twice per week, with two clinicals during the term. Students who take the class and at least one other college course are eligible to apply for financial aid and have the opportunity to be admitted into the Certified Nursing Assistant Program. ASU-Newport Summer Hours
NEWPORT — The hours of operation for Arkansas State University-Newport have shifted to a summer schedule. ASU-Newport’s campuses in Newport, Jonesboro and Marked Tree will be open from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday through Aug. 7. With the exception of White River Hall on the Newport campus, all offices and locations of ASUN will be closed Fridays. ASU-Newport will resume normal operating hours Aug. 11. Events that are already scheduled to take place on Fridays during the summer will still be held.
Bookshop’s New Hours
HEBER SPRINGS — The Friends of the Library Book Shop, 2255 Arkansas 25B N., will now be open from 3:30-7 p.m. Mondays. The shop is also open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays. CALICO ROCK — Two free Summer Day Camps for students going into first through sixth grades will be offered at the Calico Rock Museum on Main Street. Discover Life as a Settler will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 11. Beginner’s Tatting Workshop
POWHATAN — Powhatan Historic State Park will hold Lace, Loops and Laughter: Beginner’s Tatting Workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 21. Tatting, a very old form of lace-making, reached its peak during Victorian times. Participants will learn how to make bookmarks, lace collars, doilies and more with a tatting shuttle, as well as learn about the history of tatting, where to find supplies, how to read patterns and other information to advance their tatting skills. Materials and patterns will be provided. Participants will be given a simple project to take home and are asked to bring a sack lunch. The registration fee is $15.
