A Monday afternoon vehicle accident has left one person dead in Little Rock.

Little Rock Police Department Lt. Sidney Allen said the accident, which occurred about 1 p.m. near the 5100 block of Sloane Drive, involved a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer.

Stan Harmon, an accident re-constructionist with the Little Rock Police Department, said the eastbound motorcyclist tried to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone and struck the cab of a YRC Freight tractor-trailer that was turning left from a westbound lane into a driveway.

Harmon said it appeared the motorcycle was also traveling at a high speed when the accident occurred.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, Allen said, and no citations were issued.
