12:30 P.M. UPDATE:

A North Little Rock police detective who investigated a deadly shooting on Christmas Eve 2014 told a court Wednesday that two women who identified the man now on trial in the killing hid so as not to be seen talking to police.

Those women, Anita Henderson and Brianna Jordan, were roommates in the apartment where the shooting occurred and are key witnesses in the state's case against Tyrun Jones in the death of Alex Booker.

Detective Brandon Bennett testified that he first spoke to Henderson two hours after the shooting, when she was found hiding behind a nearby church, and was "shaking, clearly nervous; you could tell she was crying."

Bennett also said he spoke to Jordan that night and gave his opinion to the court that the pair lived in a "high-crime" neighborhood where people often refused to speak with police.

EARLIER:

An argument between two men over a mutual love interest escalated into a deadly shooting after the victim challenged the man charged in the killing to take their fight outside a North Little Rock apartment, a roommate at the apartment testified in court Wednesday.

Anita Henderson, whose apartment was the scene for the shooting on Christmas Eve 2014, said she witnessed the defendant, Tyrun Jones, shoot Alex Booker in the back four times as he walked toward the door of the apartment.

Jones, who was romantically involved with Henderson's roommate Brianna Jordan, had told Booker to "get the f*** out" after Booker unexpectedly came into the apartment that night, Henderson said.

Henderson said Booker responded, "come outside and holla at me," before turning around and being shot.

On cross-examination, Jones' attorney Robert Tellez repeatedly challenged Henderson's testimony, saying, "You weren't even there at the time, were you?"

"I'm telling the truth," Henderson responded.

On Tuesday, Jones' attorneys presented their case that Jordan was the actual shooter.
