FAYETTEVILLE -- Arkansas Razorbacks Coach Mike Anderson said his former star player, Bobby Portis, looked like himself Tuesday night in his season debut for the Chicago Bulls.
Portis, a 6-11 forward who as a sophomore at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville was named the 2015 SEC Player of the Year, had 21 points, 13 points and 4 assists for the Chicago Bulls in their 119-114 road loss to the Toronto Raptors.
"Bobby played really well," Anderson said. "I was really glad to see him just dialed in and helping his basketball team.
"It looked like the Bobby that played here. He's out there creating, making other guys better. He's relentless on the boards. He's running the floor."
It was Portis' first game of his third season with the Bulls after he served an eight-game suspension for punching teammate Nikola Mirotic in the face during a preseason practice.
"It just seemed like he was playing like that humble, hungry guy that we know," Anderson said. "The two weeks or the three weeks, some things were taken away from him. He doesn't ever want that feeling any more."
