Two Little Rock TV stations have hired new reporters.

A Seattle native will soon depart the Pacific Northwest to become the morning reporter at the city’s ABC affiliate, the station said Thursday.

Kaila Lafferty currently works as an anchor and multimedia journalist at CBS affiliate KLEW-TV in Lewiston, Idaho. She will leave that station and join KATV-TV on Feb. 5.

In Arkansas’ capital city, Lafferty will report for Daybreak alongside Chris Kane, Alyson Courtney and Melinda Mayo.

Both stations are owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, which is based in Hunt Valley, Md.

“Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I never imagined I would move to the South, but when I visited Little Rock I know it was somewhere I wanted to be,” Lafferty said in a statement.

Lafferty said she was "blown away by the hospitality and kindness of the people, but also the beauty and history of the city."

KATV News Director Nick Genty said Lafferty “has a fantastic live presence and knows how to quickly gather information and present in a way our viewers can and will understand.”

Lafferty graduated from The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University, where she produced a Regional Emmy-awarded newscast during her time as a college student.

KATV's previous morning reporter, Elisabeth Armstrong, left in November for a job at WZTV, Fox 17, in Nashville.

A new reporter has also recently signed on at CBS affiliate KTHV-TV in Arkansas’ capital city.

Michael Aaron, a University of Texas at Austin alumnus, joined THV 11 on Wednesday, according to a post on his Twitter account.

“Thankful for the friends I’ve made along the way and hope you stay tuned for stories from the Natural State. I can’t wait to share them,” Aaron wrote.

Aaron previously worked as an anchor and multimedia journalist at CBS affiliate KYTX-TV in Tyler, Texas. He also was an assignment editor at NBC affiliate KXAN-TV in Austin, Texas.
