A bail bondsman was arrested Monday after smuggling contraband to potential clients in the Pulaski County jail, according to a report.
Pulaski County sheriff's deputies arrested Jacob Stephen Foster, 57, saying he smuggled eyeliner pencils, cigarette lighters, personal letters and ink pens to inmates in the jail, according to a media release from the sheriff's office.
Sheriff's office spokesman Lt. Cody Burk said bail bondsmen are allowed to visit inmates who have requested their service, but that Foster used his position to have contact with inmates for whom he would smuggle goods.
According to arrest records, Foster smuggled goods to inmates over a period of several months.
Foster was charged with 12 counts of felony furnishing prohibited articles and five counts of obstructing governmental operations. He was in the Pulaski County jail with no bail set as of Monday evening.
Request for money ends in knife attack
Police say a man was stabbed three times with a 6-inch kitchen knife when he refused to give an assailant his money at a Little Rock home.
The stabbing happened around 4:45 a.m. Monday at a residence in the 4200 block of West 19th Street, according to a report from the city's Police Department.
The 59-year-old victim, Victor Bogan, told authorities that a black woman had exited a maroon pickup, walked to the front porch and asked for his money.
When the Little Rock resident refused and told her to leave, she stabbed him twice on the left side of his torso and once on the left side of his cheek, the report states.
The assailant -- described as 5 feet 6 inches tall and wearing a black sundress -- then ran south on Bishop Warren Drive. The truck sped off at the same time she fled on foot.
Police wrote that Bogan was taken to UAMS Medical Center for treatment. His condition was not immediately clear.
No suspect had been named, and no arrest had been made at the time of the report.
Armed robber hits Little Rock sandwich shop
A robber wearing a black ski mask threatened a woman at gunpoint Sunday at a Little Rock Subway restaurant, authorities said.
The robbery happened at 9:30 a.m. at the Subway on 3400 S. University Ave., according to a police report.
The 28-year-old employee told officers that a black male wearing a black ski mask and black clothes entered the eatery and pointed a pistol at her.
The report states he asked for the money from the register and the deposit in the safe before fleeing with the cash.
The thief is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds.
No suspect had been named, and no arrest had been made at the time of the report.
