A 77-year-old Arkansas man accidentally shot himself and his wife while cleaning a gun at his home, authorities said.
It happened before 12:45 p.m. Friday at a residence in the 700 block of Parkview Street in Jonesboro.
According to a Jonesboro Police Department report, the man told investigators at the hospital that he was cleaning his gun while sitting on the couch when he accidentally shot it.
The shot went through the man's left hand, and the bullet "ended up hitting [his wife] in the arm."
The report didn't give further details about the extent of either injury.
The man was "advised to properly secure the weapon," authorities wrote.
