After a nearly a decade in law enforcement, a former public information officer in central Arkansas will be hanging up the badge and picking up a microphone.

According to a news release from THV11, Little Rock's CBS affiliate, Adam Bledsoe will be joining the station this month as a feature reporter.

The station said Bledsoe spent nearly 10 years in law enforcement; most recently he was the public information officer for the Faulkner County sheriff's office.

During his time there, he appeared on the station's morning show Fridays as the "Operation Safe Speed officer," the release states. In that role, he updated viewers on traffic and always signed out with the phrase: “Have the best weekend of your life.”

THV11 News Director Dave Parker said in a statement that Bledsoe "seemed to be very comfortable and genuine on camera. We started talking about expanding his television role and now — it’s really happening.”

Bledsoe is an Ohio native, a graduate of Harding University and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, the release states.

The station said Bledsoe will appear in several shows and will help host "Home Field Advantage," a high school football segment that appears on the morning show on Fridays.

“Now I can officially say ‘This Is Home!’ I’m living the dream I never knew I had,” Bledsoe said in a statement.
